So, we’ve all seen the fuckhawt pics from AnOther Man Magazine (which is a men’s magazine in the UK), and the article tells us lots of new information. Like this shocking secret, get ready for it… *whispers* Rob doesn’t like attention. Way to scoop ‘em AnOther Man.
Really? Rob doesn’t like attention? What made you think that? Perhaps it was the hoodie constantly pulled up?
Ask anyone on Team 411. I never know what I’m doing. I just do things, and other things happen, and then I do more things. So that’s how I’m approaching the fanfic rec’s. There’s so much stuff I want to recommend, and eventually I will get to all of it, but deciding what to recommend right now!!! is tough. So if you’re looking for a pattern or reason to why I’m rec’ing a certain story at a specific time, or if stories I recommend together “go together”, just save yourself the headache and assume I didn’t know what I was doing. Assume I covered my eyes and pointed at a spreadsheet to decide what to recommend this week. Because that’s probably what happened.
I lose my shit when this story updates. I jump up and down and pump my fist in the air and lick my computer screen. I adore this story. I can’t say enough good stuff about it. As I mentioned before, I am very tough on canon fics. This story is not straight canon (I would call it AU/Canon), but everyone who should be a vampire is a vampire, and Bella lives at home in Forks with Charlie. So the groundwork, it’s all canon. Where it diverges: Bella is a wee bit older. She’s 21 but Edward is still eternally 17, so if you’re uncomfortable with that, this may not be for you. I am a total hypocrite—Art After 5 completely grosses me out, but this one doesn’t bother me. Why? Probably because Edward isn’t trying pass as a high-schooler. When we meet him in this story, he’s living apart from the Cullens as an adult, and the author makes a good point in one of her notes. While his body is 17, he is more than 100. And since this Edward isn’t trying to be a 17 year old, I’m okay with his relationship with Bella. And that relationship is what makes this story so special. Edward labors, he fucking crawls on hands and knees over broken glass for every inch he gains with Bella. This is no “you’re cute, I like you, I don’t want to eat you anymore, we’re cool now” crap. First off, their first meeting is a wee bit rougher than staring at someone rudely in biology. So Edward not only has to make amends, he also has to overcome his hunger, which is staggering and difficult for him to do. Then some stuff happens, and Bella has to find it in her to forgive him. These two really work to be together, which only makes their relationship more compelling. At every step, they are weighing odds and considering the ramifications, and still they choose to be together.

It’s funny what you find when it’s late at night and you are desperately searching for something, anything to blog about. When I get desperate, I always go to my trusty engines and start searching fiercely. That’s when I started noticing some things that made me giggle.
It appears that people use search engines in ways I can’t even imagine. I’m guessing they assume that Google is either an oracle of some sort, or perhaps will make stalking Rob really that easy.
Here are some of the things I noticed while searching around. I think they’ll make you laugh!
Shocker. Your name will not be the first listing, and hitting the “I’m feeling lucky” option will not pull a picture of you up. It will be a picture of me. Deal with it.
Yawn. It’s Saturday and I am exhausted. It’s been a good week at Rob My World, and I’m happy to get through this week and get to my video post. These are, of course, all the best Rob videos uploaded over the past week on YouTube!

I’ve seen it a lot lately. Of course, we are all full-blown Robsessed so there is no question in our mind that Rob is the hottest thing out there. But, there are those other women. You know, the ones who don’t get it. The ones who say things like, “I guess he’s okay looking” or “I just don’t get it. His hair looks dirty.” (@PokerStarlight knows what I am talking about! This blog is for your co-worker!)

For all those Twilight fans who can’t make the separation between Rob and Edward, this may be a difficult post to read. Rob is by no means the perfect man. He is not a Greek god placed on earth for all of the women to place on a pedestal to which all other men will be compared. And that’s okay.
This whole thought process started last week, after his first and only experience tweeting. I realized that while I love Rob, he is not always going to be on his “A” game. And I am totally cool with that. I love imperfect Rob!
But, come to think of it, I can actually think of five things that I would change about Rob, right now, today if I could.
Must. Refrain. From. Plucking.
1. Someone please introduce that boy to a set of tweezers.
I am not asking for Edward sculpted eyebrows, but there are moments, especially in How to Be, where I find myself right next to screen, trying desperately to will the stay hairs away with just my will power. I know it’s a pain in the ass Rob, but trust me. I would never steer you wrong!

Fanfiction and I met because of two people. On the same day that JAG from Random Acts of Rob lost her shit cos something called “DSOTM” “updated”, my twit bestie emailed me a link saying I know it’s weird and kinda lame but just read it, it’s pretty interesting. Approximately 30 minutes later I get a second email from Bestie going, Holy SHIT, I didn’t know, I swear I didn’t know they’d start having sex and stuff! I’m so embarrassed!
She was totes mortified and apologized all day. It was hilarious.
So in one night, killing time in a hotel room, I read “Dark Side of the Moon” and a Robsten fanfic called “Quiet” (to date, the only real-life fanfic I have liked). And the obsession was born. I get my fanfic recs from 3 places. 1) JAG’s TwiPorn Library on Random Acts of Rob, 2) The Lazy Yet Discerning Ficster blog, and 3) followers tweet links to @KStew411. We had a contest looking for new fanfics purely because Team 411 is way too lazy to search for ourselves, and ever since our wonderful followers have shared their favorites. I also like to check out any rec’s authors I like may have put up in their profiles, or sometimes they list them in author notes. If you really like a certain fic, check out what the author is reading.
So what can you expect from fanfic reviews written by #411? Angst, I guess. I’ve been accused of liking it angsty (that’s what she said). I swear I don’t do it on purpose, and I am trying to throw some funny fics into the mix. There is such a thing as too much angst, even for me, though. There are several very popular fics I don’t like because they are just too damn depressing. Not a lot of in-canon fics. I am very tough on stuff that’s in-canon. The story has to take the Twilight universe someplace new and unexpected for me to like it. While it isn’t tough to write better than Stephenie Meyer, it is tough to take established and well-known characters and change them into something that feels fresh and new while playing by the same rules. You will see a lot of alternate-universe/all-human stories. Those do tend to be my faves.
Thanks to Amber for hosting the posts, and also for the spectacular idea of putting fanfic in binders to make it look like work. I can read at my desk during lunch and people think I’m being productive. Joke’s on you, bitches! I hope you all enjoy the fanfic rec’s, and also enjoy the de-clogging of your twitters with fanfic linkage.
Every time I hear Rob’s name thrown out for a new movie, it seems like lately I’ve been cringing. The latest rumor of Rob starring in a remake of Dune, which my husband, TheShagDaddy, tells me is a horrible movie from 1984. This got us to thinking and joking about movies Rob could totally remake!
