Getting Ready to Meet the Friends!

So yeah, I'm gonna see this guy tomorrow. And we are most definently going to have to take a better picture then this one. (I may or may not be drunk in this picture.)

What am I doing right now? Well, I was trying to get all my shite together cause tomorrow, I will be going to the concert of a certain friend of Rob and full fledged member of the Brit Pack. I don’t want to say who, cause I fear the wrath of Google Alerts now that I’m trying to be slightly more serious on the Shack of Soul blog, but let’s just say it rhymes with Farcus Moster (real creative, right?).

This got me all to thinking about my fangirl rules, cause we are all fangirls, but we need not show it. Anyone who has been to a Brit Pack show with me knows some of these rules (and they are crucial!), but I thought that since so many of you are also falling in love with Rob’s musical friends, that you might need a lesson as well. Without further ado…

Amber’s 4 Simple Rules for Meeting “the Friends”

For any of you Brit Pack virgins, these are of UBER importance. I’ve seen them all failed so many times and they make me #sadspice every time.

1. Leave all the Twilight stuff at home!

This means no t-shirts, no soundtracks, no NOTHING! I mean, most of us have fallen in love with Bobby, Marcus and/or Sam because of Twilight, and I get that. I mean, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that’s how I fell in love, but let’s not keep cramming it down their throats.

2. Please don’t ask about Rob.

I love Rob, you love Rob. I know it can be difficult, but please, please do not take your few moments to talk to the guys about him. Anything else, word vomit if you like, but don’t let any of that vomit contain the words Robert Pattinson. (Now, you get one against me on this rule if you want to call me out. I DO have the EW magazine from this summer that had all of the guys with Rob and I’ve gotten 2 of the 3 to sign it. Breaking my own rule, but I think it’s okay just this once.)

3. Change all phone wallpaper/ringtones to default settings (or something else generic).

This is one I really harp on. Yes, I have a picture of Rob as my phone background at this moment. Yes, I have a Marcus song as a ringtone and a Rob song as well. But when I go to the concert, that all goes away. In fact, if you are in my crew, I will personally check your phone to ensure that you meet my wallpaper guidelines. True story. Ask around.

4. If you break any of these rules, 2 out of the 3 (maybe all 3, will see tomorrow!) will remember. Forever.

This is the truth. If Sam and Bobby can remember me (or at least my face) almost 6 months after I meet them, this makes me afraid. Plus, you really gotta be careful with Sam. He’s a cyber stalker. Don’t tag him in a Facebook picture unless you really want him to see it. And don’t have your manniped naked Rob picture next to it.

Alright… time to plug away! Tell me that you DO know I run another blog. You know, Shack of Soul. The reason I say it cause I know not ALL of you are going over there. And you need to, cause really, Sam, Marcus & Bobby are so amazingly awesome and deserve your support. If you dig Rob’s music, you will love their music as well (especially Marcus, I swear him and Rob have very similar voices)!!

Please go and check the blog, then go and see the guys. You will love them! I promise!!

Do you all have any rules you’d like to add?

Amber: Thanks so much for these rules.I’m a BritPack virgin and am going to see Bobby in NYC on 12/19. I will definitely keep these rules in mind and if I get a chance to chat with Bobby I’ll probably just word vomit and make no sense whatsoever;either that or I’ll just freeze up and not be able to move or say anything.I don’t know,it depends on how many Heinekens I’ve consumed by then! LOL But thanks hun,I appreciate it!!

Oh, I wish I could be there to see you break your virginity! This is an exciting moment in your life.

If it makes you feel any better, I seriously think Bobby will be as nervous talking to you as you are to him. He’s a total sweetie! You will love him!

      • Lynda from philly

Amber : yeah he does seem to be very shy,and it’s so cute!! What are my chances of actually getting to chat with him and maybe taking a pic with him? I’m so excited and I wish you could be there also!!

      • Celeste

Lynda, you read my mind…I just asked Amber the same thing about the pic!

      • Amber

Your chances are actually pretty freakin’ good! I haven’t been to a show yet by ANY of the guys that didn’t have some kind of formal/informal version of a meet and greet afterwards where they do autographs, pictures, etc.

  • Bandmum1

Should you be tempted to shout something you think would be terribly funny, especially if it is something you have heard one of them say, DON’T.
It will not only NOT be funny, you will then be remembered for having yelled it. NOT the impression you want to make, believe me!

    • Amber

A to da men! Every show I go to, EVERY ONE, someone yells out “Beautiful!” and then there is this awkward silence. Stop it peeps.

  • michelle

its not just fans who need these rules when we went to see bobby in london in october one of the other acts actually said so are you all here cos you’re vampire lovers thought i would see more fangs out there. which i thought was too much yes most found out about bobby (and the others) through assoication but maybe someone needs to tell her we may actually be there for the music

    • Amber

You have GOT to be kidding me. Classy.

  • Beth

Oh, Amber, you make me smile! I, too, will be experiencing 2 of the 3 “friends” next week, and I shall follow your rules, cross my heart (even though most of my ringtones are Bobby’s songs). I hope everyone gets to see them live as they are truly magnificent to behold in person, both as people and musicians!

I’m internally squeeeing right now at how you’ve just pumped up my excitement level to the next notch!!!!

Uh, and another rule, good for just about any musician/celeb encounter, is “don’t jump on” said musician/celeb! These guys are cool to talk to (Sam and I chatted for a good half-hour last month) if you are chill with them. Don’t freak them out, ladies!

    • Amber

No jumping them! You are so right! Play it cool ladies. These guys take the time to speak to everyone, no need to be first. In fact, I like to be last (you know, saving the best for last, LMAO!).

      But chill, chill, CHILL!

  • Celeste

Hi Amber, Your tweets always make me laugh….anyway I am going to see Marcus next week in Boston. I’ve never seen any of the boys so I guess I’m losing my BritPack virginity too.

So, what’s the advice for what to say to him? I’d love to meet him, but anything good to say without being boring/weirdo?? I was just going to wing it, be relaxed…it’s a very small place he’s playing in….

    oh yeah, have fun tonight!!!

    • Amber

Marcus is major #shyspice! When I saw him the first time and had a moment with him, I just told him that I really enjoyed the show and he was a fantastic performer. Kind of lame, but as nervous as he was on stage at first (it was his first US show EVER!), I think he needed that.

  • Celeste

thanks for the advice! that def. helps, and no that’s not lame. Everyone loves an honest compliment. I think it’s so cute that he is kinda shy, I love it.

I’ll feel it out ~ but how many people are gonna be there? (or is it just the hardcore rob/britpack fans)? Would it be weird to ask for a pic? I guess I’ll feel it out. I look forward to hearing how you enjoy his show tonight.

I feel like a freaking teenager. LOL.

    • Amber

The number of people at each show varies. It’ll probably be a lot of Britpack fans (not all Rob fans are aware of the awesomeness of his friends yet), as well as a sprinkling of other people who are there to check out the opener or maybe are just fans of singer/songwriters in general. And don’t be shy to ask for a picture! It will not be weird at all! #trust

  • DeEtta

*Confession* I broke one of these rules at a Bobby concert, and Im totally regretting it now, cus yes, he WILL remember you as “that girl!” Im sure I will be forever known as “the girl that watches too many youtube videos” All because of a story my Sister told me about at Bobby’s Ohio show. *hangs head in shame* Bobby was a complete sweetheart to me anyway…. But I have learned my lesson : )
Now, It would be really Grand if people would NOT TALK during songs. In between songs is fine, but I really hate it when people continue their conversasions while the artist is actually performing… Its great to talk amoungst yourselves before and after, but durring, it would be really Grand if we could just save it! Just sayin : )

    • Amber

Yes, close your mouth during the show or move the convo outside. I hate when people stand at the front and chit chat during the show. Grrr…

Thank you DeEtta for sharing!! And confirming the fact that these guys have memories like steel traps!! I’ll be seeing you tonight!!

  • Kristen

I will be losing my BritPack virginity tomorrow night at Bobby’s show in Houston. I’ve been squeeing all week. I can’t wait to hear him sing live. I know it’s going to be an epic moment. My face lights up anytime a Bobby song plays on my iPod.

I’m hoping that I’m not too shy to chat with him and get a pic. I’ve already charged by camera battery. And, you don’t have to worry about me. I will def follow the fangirl rules. I would NOT want Bobby to think that I was only there because of RPattz. That would be totally embarrasing & unacceptable!

Have fun tomorrow night at your show!

  • Li Li

Uh-oh. Sooo…we are trying to be more serious on SoS??

Damn. I guess I need to delete my last post. There may be the word poop in there.
    And sadpanda.
    And #drunktweet.

    Whoops.

Can’t wait to see your face tonight!!

    • Amber

The key word is “trying.” Obviously, I fail.
