So, my good friend Jen (aka MyRobPattinson) informed all of the Twitter world that Bel Ami is actually a free downloadable book on Google Books. I know, right? I could have read this thing a hella long time ago had a known this.

I’ve been waiting forevs to read this book and was gonna dive right in, but then I thought about it for a second. Maybe you all could take a pause from all the fan fiction and read with me. Why? 1) Cause I am gonna need friends to read it with me, 2) I need other people to read everything with Rob in mind so we can die a little,; and 3) If I don’t have someone making me, then I’ll end up veering back off in FF land and really, I need to read a real book every once and awhile.
Here is my plan, I’m aiming for 3 chapters a week. Then I’ll come on here on Monday and talk about it with you ladies. Now, I’m not looking for the atypical book club type questions. I want to react to not only the story in general, but also what we want to see Rob take to the screen from it.
Next Monday starts the 1st 3 chappys. Click on that link up there and start reading and let’s read a real (non-Twilight) book together, kay?

I have read the book and let me tell you it is a perfect role for Rob. Plenty of steamy liaisons. I can’t wait!!!

Where can I get the book???

It’s a free book online. The link in the post is a free version, or you can search for it online and find other free versions.
Of course, you can order from Amazon as well: http://bit.ly/abm1tc

I’m in!
Let the fantasizing begin!
I mean… reading.
A serious BOOK.
But online, so it’s still kinda like ff, right?
Especially since our leading man kinda looks (exactly) like Rob, only he’s named Gorgeous, uh, Georges, instead of Edward. Works for me!
Beginning Bel Ami in 3, 2, 1…

Sounds like fun! I also just picked up a copy of “Water for Elephants” from my local Borders (they have it in paperback) since RPatz is evidently going to film it this summer with Reese Witherspoon and Sean Penn…sounds like it’ll be a really well-acted, high quality film too.
Off to download Bel Ami…

I bought this book too. The supposed “cast” is phenomenal. If Rob continues to accept roles like this post Twilight, his meteoric rise to success will continue for quite some time.

Yay! I’m so in. Just got it last week but haven’t started reading it yet. Now I’m inspired!
February 1st, 2010 at 9:59 am
Hell yeah!
I am in too,I also need to get away from FF and read a book!
What can be better than BA?
Count me in!

Link should go directly to the book. The first page of the book is blank, but you can start scrolling through the pages at the top.:)

When you click the link, if you go to the page arrows, you start clicking through and get to the book. The first pages scanned by Google is blank. Or you go to the right where it says download and get it as a PDF. That’s what I did.

I’m enjoying the book so far. Haven’t really read anything about it before I started reading it so not sure what to expect. I like the way the book is written as it is easy to read, I was a bit worried with it being a classical book as I can find some of them pretty hard going but so far this is good.
As for George’s character I’m liking it so far, I feel the author creates a clear image of him in his writing, I can definitely see Rob in this role. I think there is a large scope to this character. Through the book you get a clear understanding of where George is in his life, his experiences and how he’s feeling at this time. I’ve felt rather sorry for him so far – however upon receiving the opportunity tto perhaps turn his life around I did think he was rather forward expecting M. Forestier to start his writing for him. I would have thought he would have wanted to prove himself more than capable of this new position in the nespaper. I felt this gave you a further insight into George’s character while perhaps we will furhter see throughout the book.
When Madame Forestier wrote the story for him, I did feel she seemed rather experienced in this task making me wonder just how much she had helped her husband perhaps in similar occasions before. Perhaps I am wrong but at this point it made me question just how much she had to play in her husband getting the job he is in.

Sorry I have went on bit much I
February 8th, 2010 at 1:18 pm
That’s true. I forgot how he was all pissy pants that he didn’t get his 2nd article written for him. And, I too, am in the thought process that Madame Forestier was assisting her husband a little too much.
P.S. I am not really a very serious book club, so no worries. Any comments you make are good! I just decided 3 chapters a week cause that seemed like something we could all live with easily, especially since the chappys aren’t super long!
February 8th, 2010 at 12:25 pm
Hit ‘Submit Comment’ by accident there. What I meant to say was …… Sorry I have went on a bit much there but I have never been a member of a book club before so I am not really sure what is expected in the comments on chapters. I’m hoping you will keep me right.
Anyway going to start the next few chapters so I’m up to date for next week. What is the set reading for next Monda? I look forward to hearing your thoughts on my comments.
