My Spoiler Free Review of Remember Me!

I’ve probably set myself up to do the hardest thing ever with writing a spoiler free review for Remember Me. I can understand now why in all the interviews Rob would jokingly say he has no idea what the movie was about. Because it is DAMN hard to explain without even giving a hint to the big “twist” ending you’ve all heard about by now. But I am going to at least try.

**Side note… I am a Rob blogger. This is a Rob blog. Therefore, it is quite obvious I am a bit bias towards Rob. While I try my best to not wear my “rose colored Rob glasses” I can’t help it all the time.

First off, I can’t even begin to talk about the movie until I discuss the crowd I went to see it with. I was surrounded by retirees who apparently make it their life running around town and picking up free movie passes at appliance stores (which is seriously where the gave them away in Oklahoma, I won mine online fortunately). This was the most anti-Twilight, “no idea who Rob is” crowd I’ve been around in awhile.

At first it was painful. Standing in line with the old man with headphones he never took off (even during the movie) and the lady wearing socks with sandals behind me trying to figure out if this was a “military” movie was not quite what I expected. But then again, what a crowd to be introduced to Rob. A crowd with no predisposed feelings toward him going in. People who did not refer to him as Edward. Wow.

Okay, the ACTUAL review, after the jump…

The movie itself, to me, started a bit disjointed. I think they had to build the characters fairly quickly in order for the story to properly be told, which is why that happened. I absolutely do not think it was THAT big of a deal and many of you may disagree with me that you even felt that way. And that’s cool. Once the storyline really got going, it really was not an issue anymore.

Since I am sure you are ALL wondering about the sex scenes (as in more then one), they were pretty hot. Yes, they are PG-13, but man, there was some serious back porn from Rob. And by the way… the way Tyler does it is exactly how I imagine it with Rob. I don’t want to say anything, but just watch his hands during the scenes. Gah. That is good hand porn there!

Taking the “glasses” back off, Rob became Tyler. He owned the role and seriously brought me into the movie. I cannot picture anyone else playing that role as well as he did. Rob is going to turn some heads with that one. All the haters out there are going to have to give it to him after this. Many of the reviewers are giving him high praise and trust me when I say, it is well earned.

Emilie was fantastic as well. I have not seen her in anything really before Remember Me (as Rob and I share the same feelings toward Lost aka Confused). While not as broken as Tyler, she has her own issues to deal with and shows to be an amazingly strong character.

Pierce plays a fantastic rich asshole dad. Chris Cooper nailed it as Ally’s father. Oh, and Ruby Jerins, the little girl who played Caroline, was phenomenal. I see big things in that girls future. The relationship between Ruby and Tyler is so sweet throughout the movie. So moving and brought me to tears a couple times.

And the comedic relief definitely came from Aiden (Tate Ellington), Tyler’s roommate. The emotion would be so thick, and he delivered such perfect little one liners that made you smile and be able to breath for a moment. He is the quintessential college roommate, and you probably knew five guys like him in college. But that is what makes the character so great.

The story hits close to home because I think any of us can picture ourselves in this world. Some of us probably were in this world. It is so realistic and true, which is why the ending is getting the press it’s been getting. And for those of you who read the script and think you are prepared… you are not. I went with a script reader to see the show. Trust me, you are not prepared.

The 2 things I want to leave you with are this:

1. Stop reading anything online about Remember Me until you see it. You do not want to accidentally get spoiled. The audience I was with proved that to me, since most were not even sure what the movie was about. Just stop clicking links to Remember Me reviews and wait till Friday. It’s almost here!

2. Go and see it THIS weekend!! DO NOT WAIT! The “twist” ending is huge. The more people who see it, the more likely it’s going to slip. Find the time. This is the movie that I promise you people will be gathered around the water cooler on Monday talking about. Promise!

One more thing I want to add…

While the first reviews we saw were glowing of this movie, there are some reviewers who are not enjoying the movie. Once you see it, you’ll understand a bit more, I think, why they may feel that way. But please, PLEASE do not go on their sites and attack them in their comments. First off, it continues the notion that all Rob fans are crazy, rabid, tween Twihards (ugh, I hate that word) and that is not helpful to him. Second, reviewers are only giving their opinions. Some of my favorite movies have gotten terrible reviews. So what? If you choose to comment, be considerate and thoughtful in your disagreement. But saying they don’t deserve to keep their job or that they are “stupid” is not helping the overall view of the fandom.

Haven’t bought your tickets yet?!? What are you waiting for?!? Buy advance tickets to Remember Me from Fandango! Also be sure to grab a digital copy of the Remember Me Soundtrack and the Remember Me Score from Amazon! I’m really digging both!

    oh Amber,
thanks so much for the spoiler less review. It’s still 9 days to go in Germany and I just can’t resist knowing a bit about it. (well at keast about the sex scenes). So your review is just what I needed.
    Thanks.

    • Amber

Good luck making it those extra few days! Be careful on the links you click after Friday.

      • Bleriana

I think I will stay out of anything that looks like Remember me until I saw it.
Then I’ll go back and look at it.

Thanks a lot for your review – I so want to see this movie – but being in Switzerland is even worse, it will be released on April 7 !!! Impossible ot wait this long – so I’ve decided to go see it in Italy on March 26… but that’s still a long way to go and it’s really getting difficult, as you say, to remain spoiler free for a Robsessed fan viewing Rob sites daily !! But I’m glad you loved the movie – I’m sure I will love it too as I think I own the same ‘rose colored Rob glasses’ !!!

    • Amber

You can make it! I know it’ll be hard. Just don’t click on anything that says Remember Me!

  • Valerie

Amber that was a great spoiler free review you did. I’m horrible at reviewing but you nailed it. I thought Rob did a great job, but actually the cast as a whole did. I’ve got my tickets to see it again Friday. Can’t wait.

    • Amber

Me neither! I think it’s gonna be a bit better round two!

Great review Amber. I can not wait to see this movie. I normally don’t agree with critic reviews so I rarely read them. I have not read the script and have not been spoiled to the ending so I am a little nervous now about it.

    • Amber

Keep it up! You are almost there, and the ending is will be so worth staying spoiler free! #trust

Amber, I loved your review:) And I do know about the ending. I actually don’t like surprises, so I had to know! I know I will go see what I already know , that Rob Pattinson is a serious actor, and that my Robsession is 100% justified:) LOL
I also think that we should be allowed to love him and be critical of his work at the same time. Although , I do wear my Rob Glasses most of the time. I LOVED him in “Little Ashes” , it was a wonderful movie;)
However, i find myself mostly excited about Eclipse and Bel Ami. Remember me didn’t grab me the same way that New Moon or twilight did . And I think that it was probably the script.
Thanks again for reviewing it for us , you are the kind of friend , I would have loved to go see this movie with:)

He is FAR better in this than Little Ashes… no comparison.

  • nessdm

Saw it… loved it. Even my mom did, and she is no Twimom. Rob and Emilie did a fantastic job. The cast is a great ensemble to the plot. Pierce Brosnon is good as well. There is a scene with him and Rob that you feel everything going through them and it hits you.

So happy this movie was made. See what happens with a script gets black listed? It can still get made :) Just need a star like Rob behind it.

  • Izabele

Amber, I totally agree with you! Very honest and sincere!

OME! Watched remember me with my friends and my Sis. And in the theatres when the show begin and Rob appeared my Sis and I were freaking out we screamed his name. When the show was ending the part when he was in his dad building and the teacher wrote 9 september thig on the board then my Sis realise it was the 9/11 plane crash and all the other people in the theatre, didn’t even know what was going on until my Sis said so loud to me, oooh it’s the 9/11 plane crash. Then there were
mublings in the theatre as the people finally realise oooh it’s the crash. it was so funny cause he people really had no clue what was going on. But it was a really bad ending cause in the end Rob died, so my Sis and I were crying even when we waked out of the theatre. And one of my friend cried too and she was like, why did the handsome guy have to die. Totes LOL.
