This is the end, beautiful friend — @KStew411′s Final Post

So. Here we are. This is my last post for Rob My World.

I’ve gotten a lot of questions in the last few weeks about where to get new fic rec’s. The number one place I find new stories is in the “favorites” list of the authors I am reading. Like a story? Check out the author’s profile and see what she’s reading. After that, I find a lot on The Lazy Yet Discerning Ficster. Rec’s, discussion, author interviews–it’s an all around great site for ficsters. I also find a lot of stuff perusing The Writer’s Coffee Shop Library. The search function is great, and grows ever more comprehensive. Twilighted, too, has a nifty search feature from which I have culled many stories. Oh, and lest I forget, JAG at Random Acts of Rob has an excellent collection of rec’s herself; she rec’s every Sunday and she was my early fanfic dealer. I blame her for all of this. As for my rec’s–Amber plans to leave them up for a while. I love all of these stories. I can’t single any one out right now because I think you should read all of them.

Bestie has been my silent partner in this, emailing rec’s, demanding I read a certain story, picking apart updates and possibilities, mourning the end of MotU. She called me the dealer but really she was the one pushing my addiction and in turn, feeding you. Heart you lots, Bestie! And big ups to the followers who emailed rec’s and authors who asked that I read their stories. Without you all sharing your favorites, I never would have read as many great stories as I have. Finally, I cannot thank Amber enough for letting me write fanfic rec’s on her Roblog, and for generally being an awesome internet friend. Next time I’m in OKC, we’re getting coffee. (Amber note: I’m in!!)

To the authors I thank you for giving your time. There’s no money in fanfic and you all have busy lives from which you take time to entertain us with your talent and incredible imaginations. Thank you for sharing, for putting up with stories being reported and hags and hassle, for not bailing on your stories but instead persevering to give us an ending. There are some hugely talented writers out there and I hope that one day I buy a book with your name on it.

And of course, thank you to you, the followers and fellow readers who have kept up with these rec’s. I have loved getting to know you through fanfic, trading favorites, emailing back and forth, and tweeting with fellow obsessers. Without you asking, I never would have done this. I never read fanfic before this last year, nor ever thought about reading so much of it that I’d be able to do two rec’s a week for months and still not cover my whole favorites list. But it’s been a blast, and I will miss it, and you. This has been one of my absolute favorite parts of the 411 experience, thanks to all of you.

Welcome to the Rileys, Stephenie Meyer and Jake Gyllenhaal for the Win!

L.A. is gorgeous. Beautiful. But Rob is off working, so I’ve given him a little break.

Take a break baby. You deserve it.

I have other things to discuss today.

Yesterday, was probably one of coolest days in LA. I mean, the premiere was awesome, but yesterday was like a killer LA type of day.

First things first… woke up early and hit the Hollywood Farmers Market, which is the most amazing farmer’s market I’ve ever seen. And while I was checking all the melons and stealing tastes of amazing cherries and bread, I saw Jake freakin‘ Gyllenhaal at the market too. He had the couple day old scruff, some bed head and I died. I did. Right there.

Why hello there gorgeous!

I played it cool fangirls and let the man shop. No pictures. No autographs. Just stealing glances at the pretty. And at that moment, Jake G. has earned a spot on my freebie five. I thought about going back and letting him know, possibly in the same style that one lets a person know they are the millionth customer at an ice cream store. With confetti, balloons and a cake. Sorry we missed out on that one Mr. G. Maybe next time.

After all these good times, I went to my first ever movie screening at a film festival for a little movie called Welcome to the Rileys. And I have to say, the movie was really good. Kristen plays a fantastic prostitute/maybe drug user. She owned that movie, almost as much as Melissa (who plays Mrs. Riley). The plot was great, and while there are parts that will make you laugh, for the most part, it’s a drama, and a serious one at that.

Ah-mazing!

Listen, I get that all of you aren’t Stew fangirls like me and I am cool. That is your choice. But this movie deserves at least one round of viewing through your own theatre or DVD player when it’s available. It’s a really great movie that you will love!

And one of the biggest highlights of my day…. winning a Stephenie Meyer autograph from the amazing Moon & UC while at their LTT/LTR bash. Not only do I get to meet all my buddies, but I got something that Stephenie touched.

Be jealous bitches!

Gah, this day kicked ass. Still in LA, so let’s hope for another one!

I Saw the Rob. In Person. And it Was Good.

I saw the Rob. In person. For the first time ever. And now I can die a happy woman.

First things first, this confirms that Rob is real, not just some man I dreamed up in my head. And let’s be real, the hotness is greatly enhanced by seeing it in person. Even when said person is rocking a burgundy suit (which by the way, he rocked it!).

Even from the couple 100 feet I was away, the hair, the smiles, the talking over a microphone which was not transmitted over to me in a YouTube video.

Forget high def, I’ll take the real deal any day!

Now, a few of the crappy pictures I took until some of the girls I was with get their far batter ones up online.

Packing and packing… it’s almost time! LA, Get Ready.

I’m writing this and finishing the final touches on what will now become known as the Epic Overpacking of 2010. I have no idea how to prepare myself for a 7 day trek in California, especially when I am going to places I’ve never been and doing things I’ve never done.

And now, as I try and write this blog, my stomach is in knots, thinking of all things I didn’t pack (which is not possible) and thinking of all the time I will be away from the hubs and family. I feel sort of sickly now, so I need to distract myself.

Let’s see…

Why hello there Rob in the field?

Gangsta Rob in da HOOD!

Rob in a hammock? I didn't even know this was my dream come true, but apparently it is.

This new cover is like reworking Harry Potter to show Cedric Diggory as the main character. But Daniel Gale's hot, so I won't complain too much!

Awwwww… I feel better…

So, you saw my list of goals whilst in LA. But what else should I add to it? LA Peeps, what one thing must I do while I’m there? Help me out!

Leaving with a laugh — FF Recs from @KStew411

The time has come. This week is my last set of fanfic recs for RMW. I will be writing next week, but I don’t plan on doing traditional recs, so I am winding up with this week’s recs. A couple more from the lighter side for you.

Renfield and Chiclets” by katinki

This story kills me. Geeky scientist Edward has a massive crush on, and elaborate fantasy built around, his sexy boss Bella. This Edward is so intelligent, but he can barely relate to other people. His coworker Emmett drives him crazy with his boorish behavior, his closest friend is space cadet Jasper, and he is a self-described social pariah with a slightly disturbing fetish for blood. Namely, Bella’s blood. RAC is a super-smut story, so if you don’t like big ole pitchers of lemonade, this probably isn’t for you. If that sort of thing is your bag, however, RAC is a funny, smutty read with a heart. Edward is blunt to the point of painful and his social skills are atrocious. But as his relationship with Bella progresses and he begins opening up, his insecurities and nerves make him very lovable. His relationship with Bella opens the door to Emmett and even Alice–a supervisor in Edward’s pharmaceutical company he doesn’t much care for–and his transformation from walking encyclopedia to actual human is endearing. RAC has some of the most…creative…lemons I’ve come across and also one of the sweetest love stories. Edward and Bella’s relationship begins on one level and ends up somewhere else entirely. Edward’s reactions to getting in touch with his emotions is pretty priceless. The story is told in EPOV, so as readers we only know Bella as Edward sees her, but she comes across as a successful and confident woman. She encourages Edward to open up to life and she defends him fiercely when needed. RAC is a smutty, funny story with no angst and one of the best Geekwards I’ve found.

Breaking Bella” by sixeightshuffle

Slow to update but 30 chapters in, “Breaking Bella” hits the right mix of humor and angst. First impressions are everything, as college students Edward and Bella find out. After their first meeting at a somewhat disastrous tutoring session, Edward thinks Bella is a big bitch and Bella thinks Edward is a prime asshole. The two determine to go their separate ways, but of course circumstances keep throwing them together and eventually they begin to alter their opinions. It’s not all easy, though. Bella attempts to apologize early on and Edward rebuffs her, which ends up justifying her initial impression of him. They proceed with this comedy of errors but slowly they become friends, and maybe, something more. Only problem is, even as Edward is falling for Bella, he’s dallying with his TA and Bella walks in at an inopportune moment, thus ending their budding relationship and setting them back to where they started. Generally “Breaking Bella” runs pretty light, with lots of sarcastic bantering and excellent music discussion between Edward and Bella, but this is a story about growing pains, and some mistakes and miscommunications occur. The point of view switches between Bella and Edward and it’s interesting to see how they each perceive events differently. Edward is kind of a typical clueless college guy, but he starts pulling himself together, though he may be too late… As for Bella, I really like her, but the last couple available chapters have been a bit frustrating. And thus the touch of angst. Still, this has been an enjoyable story, one I wish updated a bit more frequently, but it’s well worth the wait.

Don’t be too #sadpanda! All the recs will still be here for you to go back and relive!

My Personal Goals for Fun Times While in LA… Just 4 More Days

Unless you’ve been under a rock, you probably know that I am heading to LA on Thursday. I will be going to the premiere of Eclipse, as well as the LA Film Festival screening of Welcome to the Rileys (hi KStew!), seeing some Sam Bradley, going to a midnight showing of Eclipse! All around, it is going to be epic times, fo sho! Seven days in LA, minus hubs and kids? Holy crap.

And because I’m kind of anal rententive, I’ve been mapping out some of my own personal goals during my time in LA!

The MOST important goal of them all — See Rob in the flesh. I don’t care if he is a few hundred feet away and has

If Rob looks like this at the premiere, then he's gonna need to worry about a lot more then word vomit. Just sayin'.

his back to me, I gotta see that boy in the real life. I promise I will not scream at him, although if he gets within 10 feet there may be a spew of word vomit flying out of my mouth which I will clearly have no control over. All of my girls better stay outta the splash zone during that, cause it will be embarrassing.

Get a hug from at least one of the Twi dads, Peter, Billy, hell even Gil. I feel like Billy is my best chance, but that’s probably just because of his super personal newsletter emails that make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. ::le sigh:: Seriously, you guys need to be on that list.

Live the Rob experience by eating some In-n-Out burger, drinking some beer and possibly showing up drunk of TMZ. The first 2 should be easy, I’m gonna have to work super hard on 3.  I just need to find another drunk celeb and hang behind them and wait on the cameras.

Get bitch faced by KStew at the WTTR screening. She may or may not be there, so this may or may not happen. No wait, I change my mind. I don’t want to get bitch faced. I want to see the smile. In person. That would be much, much more awesome!

Have a beer with Sam and be uber embarrassed because 1) he recognizes me, and 2) he remembers me from the last show, you know, when I went through the “meet and greet” line like 10 times, then just decided to chill with the men and watch girls try to sneak in Justin Nozuka’s dressing room. Awesome times.

Watch Eclipse at the midnight showing (my first midnight showing EVER, by the way) and try not to squee out loud the first time Robward comes on the screen. I failed at New Moon, so here is hoping I can make up for that.

Being out and about in LA for that long is sure to have lots of shenanigans, and you know you will not want to miss anything! So here is what you need to do:

1. Follow me on Twitter.

My Twitter peeps will get everything first, and probably some stuff that will never make it to my blog. If you are not already following me, then do it now. I am @AmberRMW and I promise you won’t regret following me. Yep, I am that awesome. It’s even in my Twitter bio.

2. Watch for updates on my blog!

It may be a bit weird for the week I’m in LA. First off, I’ll be on west coast time, so everything is gonna get pushed back. Secondly, there may be nights I don’t blog, and other days I may hit ya twice. Who knows? I sure don’t. But as long as you are on Twitter, you will know. You can also subscribe to have emails sent every time I update. That may be the easiest! There is a little button right over there, at the top of this column ————————————————>

Hit that, enter your email, and let’s do this!

I’m still packing and getting ready, and I am so freakin’ excited. Will any of you be there? I will be giving out free hugs, just let me know!

Saturday Video Post… Now on Friday! Yeah!

Once again, I’m taking the weekend off. Got some serious packing to do. Hello? I’ll be in LA for 7 days! That’s ridiculous. I feel bad for neglecting my blog, but I think it will be worth it during and after LA, because (1) I will have lots of good stuff to write about while there; and (2) Seeing Rob in person (even if he’s a little ways away) will probably renew my Rob love, which I’ve been needing!

So, again, I moved my Saturday video post up till today. Personally, I kind of like watching these on Friday morning with my cup of coffee at work with my office door closed.

Robert Pattinson – Shy boy

I love when videos are quick to get the new stuff in! This one by SweetMelodyxxx has plenty of Rob from the press junket, Leno and even a little bit of older stuff, including some Robscar! HOT!

Rob Pattinson || Favorite Fix

Really, I like this video by TheGinajuicy mainly because Rob says “glitter lube” and uses some clips from the MTV Movie Awards commericals, which makes me smile!

Robert Pattinson: what is Robert Pattinson afraid of?

Alright, so Rob isn’t in this video. But Lizzie, his sister is! And I just said “Awwwwww…” when I watched. Plus, I love that she says ballsy. I wonder if she also has a lack of filter between the brain and mouth because that would be awesome.

Seriously video makers! There is lots of good stuff out there. Can we get some more Rob videos?!

I Am At a Loss for Words. No Seriously, This is a Cop Out Post.

Yesterday was not necessarily the best day in the Rob fandom. Actually, it was one of those days that were kind of embarrassing.

But hey, I am sooo not going to talk about that today. Nope. I’m gonna look forward beyond this day. And since I am keeping a distance from Eclipse clips till the movie, there is nothing left for me. Nothing. Boo to that.

So I’m gonna go ahead and take a break tonight, mainly cause I got a shit ton of stuff to do before I leave for LA in 7 days… SEVEN DAYS! Gah!

Love you all! Enjoy these pics on me! I gotta give you something for stopping by, and that thing today is mustard and ketchup Rob, cause apparently I am the only not crazy about these pictures. I could convert them all to black and white so the color is less offending, but let’s be honest, I am FAR too lazy for that!

And my OTHER gift to you… Rob making an adjustment. Yeah, Susie totes hooked me up!

Rob on Leno is PURE WIN! But are you that surprised?

What? I bring my "A" game every day.

It is clear that Rob brought his “A” game out on Jay Leno yesterday. It’s like he knows what drives us crazy and just decided to combine all of them into one interview so I would spontaneously combust while sitting here on my couch. I mean, geez we talk about all of these things all the time. Confirmation that he reads our blogs?

If so, well then, touche Rob. You got us back good. You should keep getting us back. It kind of rocks.

I mean, c’mon. First off, you show up in that suit. And you owned that suit, no doubt.

Oh this old thing?

I’m hoping while getting dressed in the fuck hawt suit that you were warmed by the fire that was fueled by the burning of the yellow shirt that made what I hope was it’s first and last appearance in the Eclipse press junket. Seriously, does it not remind of the Jack & the Box?

And then, seriously, those moments with your dad? Wow. First off, I love you even more for what is obviously a close relationship with your dad? Secondly, I think I may be partially in love with your dad. Not in that way, but I could see where he could be a cool father-in-law. Yeah, I said it.

The emails were just too priceless, and I love the fact that you embarassed him on national television. But hey, anything to see you do this again?

Rob's dad taught him a new hand gesture. Much nicer then my fave hand gesture...

Quotes of the night? Well, there were 2 in my book. When talking about nude scenes and the uncomfortable-ness during Bel Ami filming: “Hey! I’m sitting here naked. I want some respect.” Best quote in response to said Rob quote came from greenleafgirl: “I’ll respect you Rob. Now get naked. I’ll respect you nice and slow.”

And the 2nd best came after the interview, when Jay asked Emma Roberts if she was Team Edward or Team Jacob and she looked Rob in the eyes and said Team Jacob. While the audience was picking there mouths off the floor, Rob came back with this little gem, “You have just revealed yourself to have absolutely no taste.”

Wait, what did she say?!?

WIN! Take that Emma, some chick I really have no idea who she is but apparently is important enough to be on Jay Leno.

Wait, you must be tired of just reading about all the awesomeness. How about reliving all of it?!?

Yeah, enjoy that!

I refuse to get weepy and sentimental — FF Recs from @KStew411

It’s not my scene. Suffice it to say, planning out my last rec’s is making me sad. So, I will instead say that I am obsessed with Sebastien Robichaud’s blog (author of University of Edward Masen), and that I am of the belief that SR is he. I thought that, but then the author-insertion in the outtake and a late chapter of UoEM has me sold. He’s a he, and I’d probably really like him in real life. As long as he would promise not to murder me and stuff me in a deep freeze. That’s the qualification for meeting any of you people in real life. Please don’t murder me and stuff me in a deep freeze. If for some reason you aren’t reading UoEM, congratulations, you’re the one. Get on that shizz.

Discovering You, Discovering Me” by JSFazz

I really love this story right now. It’s only seven chapters in–lately I am rec’ing a lot of new stories, I know–but it kind of reminds me of The Unaccompanied Soul. Something about the tone, maybe. This is an all human story (I am off my AU tangent), about a post-collegiate Edward and Bella. Edward is a pharmacist, but he is painfully shy. And I don’t mean kind of awkward and shuffling-his-feet adorable. I mean that this Edward was the victim of consistent and awful bullying throughout his childhood and he is now withdrawn and largely silent. Bella on the other hand, is a bit more outgoing. She’s awkward and clumsy herself, her friends call her “Hurricane Bella”, but she is overall a kind, warm person. She returns to Forks after graduating from college, with Charlie recently deceased and she’s jobless to boot. Now saddled with student loans and keeping up an old house, Bella takes a job at the Forks Pharmacy. Guess who’s the pharmacist? Yep–shy, “frightened animal” Edward. Their interaction is really lovely, and the characterization of Edward is so subtle and detailed. He barely speaks, but the smallest moments allow such significant insight into his personality and past (the yearbook thing will kill you a little). Honestly, this story made me think of those kids I knew in school, but didn’t really know, who got picked on a lot. It made me wish I’d taken the time to actually speak with them, and be more considerate than just smiling “hello” in the hallway. Edward has clearly been deeply traumatized by bullying. The story hints at particular event, too, one that involves Emmett somehow and represents a significant change in Edward’s life. A little bit of mystery to unravel. DYDM isn’t super angsty, though. While I can definitely see the potential, I can also see that this story could just as well keep its light, thoughtful tone. Counteracting the tale of Edward’s malicious bullying is Bella’s clumsy presence. She knocks stuff over, dumps pink gunk all over Edward, and pratfalls constantly. The story is narrated in BPOV, and she makes for a dry, witty narrator. It keeps the story from sinking too much in Edward’s situation. Bella isn’t stupid; she feels real remorse over her sometimes careless attitude toward Edward as they grew up, but she doesn’t dwell either. She makes her apology and moves on, determined to know Edward the adult, to draw him out of his shell and help him realize his full potential. And the more Edward opens up, the more I like him. He may be shy and a terrible dresser, but he’s endearing and has a quiet charm. I love him. I love this story. I’ve re-read it a couple times already. I’m enthusiastic about where this one is going.

GYNAZOLE” by Mrs.TheKing

This story also features Edward as a pharmacist, though the tone is considerably different. “Gynazole” may be the outright funniest fic I’ve ever read. It’s like Mrs.TheKing is just trying to be as outrageous as possible, and it’s working. I revisit this story each time something angsty bums me out and it makes me laugh every time. The plot in “Gynazole” is pretty straightforward: Bella meets Edward at the Target pharmacy when he fills her prescription for an embarrassing antibiotic related to feminine troubles. Edward has a tendency to talk a little too loud and Bella is easily embarrassed. They don’t get off on the best foot. But circumstances bring them back together, Bella develops a crush on the hot-if-loud pharmacist, and chaos ensues. I mean literally, CHAOS ensues. At one point Emmett is flinging around a cock ring. When I say this story is ludicrous, I mean it in the best way possible. In the way that Monty Python is ludicrous. It’s just totally out there, completely committed to going as far as possible for the laugh, and wholly hilarious. Emmett is Bella’s neighbor and kind-of friend, Jasper works at Target and may or may not be French, and Alice is obsessed with fashion but always manages to be just behind the latest trends. In the middle of it all is poor, blushing Bella, trying to keep it together. And did I mention they tweet? Bella has created an online persona for herself which doesn’t precisely reflect her reality, and when Edward joins up he insists on calling it “the Twitter”. The drunktweeting part especially cracked me up. This is a quirky, hysterical story featuring a couple of awkward lovebirds who generate chemistry and humor. I have been hunting down funny fics recently and “Gynazole” is hands-down the funniest one I have found so far.

I’m going to seriously get my act together and update KStew411′s FF review page. No, seriously. I promise.
