Lots of Good Things to be Thankful This Year

Awwwww, it’s Thanksgiving. Well, at least over here in the States it is. That means lots of good grubbing and meditating on all the things in your life you are thankful for. Of course, plenty of these things aren’t exactly what I would say at the table as the family does the round-the-round, but they are most def things that I am very thankful for!

I'm thankful for you and your crazy vampire dreams!

1. I am thankful for Stephenie Meyer.

Maybe that’s lame. I don’t know.

But I do know this. This woman has literally changed my life. And I like to think for the better. These books/movies have brought me life-long friends, opportunities I never thought existed and just awakened a part of me that realized “hey, I’m a mom, but I can still have fun.” Plus, they brought me to Rob and all the fun it is to drool, as well make fun of him.

2. I am thankful for my friends who get it.

I had friends before all this. Not many, but I did have friends. But the friends I have now, seriously, I love them. I can talk to them about anything, and I know at least a couple will probably last a lifetime. These friends get it, and I just can’t imagine a day without talking to some of them. It’s what gets me by.

3. I am thankful for Rob.

This is a big fat duh on my part. But it needs to be said. I am thankful for Rob. Yes, I am thankful for all the pretty, pretty pictures. And the movies. And the interviews. And the videos.

But I am also thankful for the music. And not just Rob ‘s. It’s led me in this whirlwind of not only Rob’s friends, but then it just opened me up to being a bit more experimental in my music choice. And I LOVE this

I am REALLY thankful for this picture!

new side of the world I have been missing!

So, what are you thankful for? I get kind of serious on here, but hey, I’m seriously thankful for these things. But you don’t need to be all serious (unless you want to be). Put it out there and share! I’d love to hear about it!

Update!

I am in a turkey coma and contemplating waking up at 4 a.m. to go shopping. In the interest of the fact that I need to be well rested in order to fight people off, I’m not going to be posting tomorrow because I’m going to bed.

Sorry. Love me through it. And I’ll be back on Monday!!

Welcome to the Rileys, Stephenie Meyer and Jake Gyllenhaal for the Win!

L.A. is gorgeous. Beautiful. But Rob is off working, so I’ve given him a little break.

Take a break baby. You deserve it.

I have other things to discuss today.

Yesterday, was probably one of coolest days in LA. I mean, the premiere was awesome, but yesterday was like a killer LA type of day.

First things first… woke up early and hit the Hollywood Farmers Market, which is the most amazing farmer’s market I’ve ever seen. And while I was checking all the melons and stealing tastes of amazing cherries and bread, I saw Jake freakin‘ Gyllenhaal at the market too. He had the couple day old scruff, some bed head and I died. I did. Right there.

Why hello there gorgeous!

I played it cool fangirls and let the man shop. No pictures. No autographs. Just stealing glances at the pretty. And at that moment, Jake G. has earned a spot on my freebie five. I thought about going back and letting him know, possibly in the same style that one lets a person know they are the millionth customer at an ice cream store. With confetti, balloons and a cake. Sorry we missed out on that one Mr. G. Maybe next time.

After all these good times, I went to my first ever movie screening at a film festival for a little movie called Welcome to the Rileys. And I have to say, the movie was really good. Kristen plays a fantastic prostitute/maybe drug user. She owned that movie, almost as much as Melissa (who plays Mrs. Riley). The plot was great, and while there are parts that will make you laugh, for the most part, it’s a drama, and a serious one at that.

Ah-mazing!

Listen, I get that all of you aren’t Stew fangirls like me and I am cool. That is your choice. But this movie deserves at least one round of viewing through your own theatre or DVD player when it’s available. It’s a really great movie that you will love!

And one of the biggest highlights of my day…. winning a Stephenie Meyer autograph from the amazing Moon & UC while at their LTT/LTR bash. Not only do I get to meet all my buddies, but I got something that Stephenie touched.

Be jealous bitches!

Gah, this day kicked ass. Still in LA, so let’s hope for another one!

Tips for Hiding Your FanFic Obsession!

If you’ve read Twilight, then the word fanfic is nothing new to you. Fan fiction fills that gaping hole we all fill once we finish the saga, then read Midnight Sun and then every outtake and extra on Stephenie Meyer’s site. I’ve found over the past few weeks that I have become quite obsessed with a couple of stories and I needed to find a better way to read versus on the computer (makes my eyes hurt!).

Can you spot the smut?

Can you spot the smut?

Today, I want to share with you my genius methods for not only hiding you fan fiction obsession, but also making your self look like a star employee while reading it!

1. Go to your work’s supply closet and grab a binder. I suggest anything over a 2″ cause, let’s face it, a 1/2″ binder is just not going to cut it.

2. Pull up your favorite fan fiction on your computer. (I’ll have some recommendations at the bottom!) Don’t be too concerned. If you use FanFiction.net, it’s hard to really tell what it is unless you get close.

3. Print one chapter at a time. About every 10 minutes, print a new one. Ideally, print as you read, that way you don’t raise suspicion by printing 300 pages at once!

4. Get yourself some tabs out of that supply closet and organize that thing! Don’t label. It will ruin the cover.

5. Put it all together, then set it out on your desk. Now you looked like you got some serious work on your hands.

6. When you leave work, be sure to take this binder home. Let at least 2 people see you carrying it (preferably one being your boss). Now, not only did you hide your obsession, but you look like you are taking work home. Boss approves!

You ready to get started, but need some recommendations! Here are the few I’ve been reading…

  • Wide Awake – This is a great starter piece to the world of FF. Very angsty, but I like that. It’s all human and cannon (which means the characters are with the characters they are meant to be with!). Plus, it’s almost complete, which makes it even better. No waiting for new chapters!
  • Carpe Noctum & Fiat Lux – This is my newest obsession. Still pretty angsty, but seriously, I am all about angst! It’s an alternate universe, which means the characters are the same, just the story line is varied from Twilight. This one is still in the works, but it’s an easy read that will leave you craving more!
  • Dark Side of the Moon – Did you love Midnight Sun? Then you will love this one. It’s New Moon, but rewritten from Edward’s point of view. This author does a really amazing job with this, so much to the point that the lines are blurring for me on what really happened in New Moon and what is happening in DSOTM.

Want more recommendations? My home girl over at Random Acts of Rob has a stellar TwiPorn Library that will give you just about any kind of Fan Fiction you are looking for.
