Those of you waiting for Rob to get a Twitter account may be waiting a very long time. In a new interview (which it has been a LONG time since we’ve seen) with the Daily Record, Rob admits that he can no longer remember what normal life was like, and Twitter has caused him to make life style changes:
“Because of internet stuff and Twitter, there will be a crowd if you are in a place for more than half an hour.
“I’ve learned never to stay in the same place for more than 20 minutes.”
So, I’ve been on Twitter for awhile now, and I can understand Rob’s concerns. I love Twitter cause I can find out things very quickly. I get news pretty much as soon as it all happens, which makes me a well informed member of society. Okay, if you count Rob and Twilight news as all of society, which it is not. But this statement concerns me and makes me unhappy. Twitter is being used to make someones life more difficult then it has to be.
Reporting news is one thing. Blogs and things like that are fun! Twitter was meant for that. But spotting Rob and then tweeting to the entire galaxy that you’ve seen him and providing his exact coordinates for people to enter into their GPS is just wrong. Let me tell you a little story about my Twicon time in Dallas that I haven’t shared to date…
The Thursday I was in Dallas, the group of girls I was with caught word that Rob was in town. We got it from two pretty reliable sources. Now, Rob was never in Dallas (or if he was, he did some amazing hiding!), but you never saw one tweet from us that we thought he might be there. Why? Because we did not want to cause a mass hysteria if he was there. We figured he’d be hanging out with his boys and would be trying to take a break, not wanting to run from the literally 1,000s of Twilight fans that were in Dallas at the same time.
There is something to be said for keeping things like that to yourself. We, personally, wanted to have our own experience seeing him (if we did, which we didn’t) and did NOT want to share it with anyone else. So maybe all of my readers should join this pact that I made with my Twicon girls. If you see Rob, DO NOT TWEET IT!! Do not mention anything. Let him enjoy and you can make your own personal decision on whether you approach him or not. As hard as it will be, save it all for the next day. Let the world know then if you want, once he is safely somewhere else.
Sorry for the soap box today, but I really feel strongly about this. I do believe that as a celeb you do, unfortunately, live much more of an “open book” life then others, but its not fair for us to take advantage of him. Believe it or not, Rob is a person and should be treated as such.
If you feel strongly about this too, then let me know! Disagree? That’s cool, tell me why!
